Single as Hell
When being single is a sin then hell is where you belong so date your way to heaven
This game demo trailer presents a dating simulator where the player’s story begins with death and grief. Dying while single brings sorrow to those left behind. As a result the player is sent to Hell for that sin.
To escape the only path forward is to find a partner. The characters in Hell each carry flaws past wounds and hidden intentions. The player must navigate relationships whether love found in Hell can truly succeed
Design Process
The overall design of this project reflects its core theme. While the story carries humor, it leans toward dark comedy. Each romanceable character is designed with clear flaws, personal struggles, and reasons for being in their current situation. Their identities are expressed through distinct visual traits and narrative-driven details.
The mood and tone are defined by a strong contrast in visual treatment. Characters and UI elements feature clean linework, while backgrounds remain line-free to create separation and focus.
Color plays a key role in storytelling. Backgrounds use vivid, saturated tones in both Hell and Heaven. Heaven emphasizes bright, luminous colors to evoke lightness and clarity, while Hell uses intense, striking hues to create a chaotic and unsettling atmosphere.
