NIRAT
Nirat is a Thai fantasy adventure animation trailer with a combination of 2D and 3D animation alongside a concept art book.
Nirat is a Thai fantasy adventure following Phob, a young boy whose mother was struck by a mysterious illness. With no cure in sight, he set out on a dangerous journey through a land brimming with ancient myths, spirits, and legends.
Design Process
Nirat, a Thai fantasy adventure born from the passion and perseverance of the Pumpkin Connection team. More than a story, this marks a significant milestone in our creative journey, developed during our university thesis project.
Phob’s quest reflects our own journey of discovery and courage. As he uncovers truths about his identity, we too have recognized our skill as artists and writers.
Phob design is based on a classic hero ,who must leave comfort zone and face the danger to protect who he loves, top up with Thai aesthetics.
For the rest of the characters, they are influenced by different parts of Thailand. Rayrai and her house are inspired by the northeastern and central part of Thailand. The house is compact and filled with many treasures, trinkets and adventure related tools according to her former profession as an adventurer. Pra Loh and the Lotus Sanctuary is based in the north of Thailand with Chinese influences. We also use the Yee Peng lantern as a symbol for the north of Thailand. The Lotus Sanctuary is an isolated place located in a tropical forest, surrounded by waterfalls and overgrown lotuses to depict a Thai fantasy environment.
